The Washington Wizards have bought out the final year and a half of point guard Mike Bibby’s contract.
Bibby wasn’t out on the open market for long, as the Miami Heat quickly jumped in and signed him.
The veteran guard has never won an NBA title, so signing with Miami for almost nothing makes sense.
It’s a great signing by the Heat, who literally have nothing surrounding LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh. (more…)

The Washington Wizards have fielded calls about guard Kirk Hinrich and would not be hesitant to deal him.
The Wizards are obviously in full rebuild mode at this point and Hinrich is not likely a big part of their future.
However, another line of thinking is that the Wizards want Hinrich around to mentor rookie John Wall.
The team is also lacking backcourt depth after trading away Gilbert Arenas, so Hinrich provides backup to Wall and Nick Young. (more…)

With a loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves, the Washington Wizards remained winless on the road this year.
It’s been a miserable season thus far for Washington, which at times barely has enough players to hold a practice.
The team traded away Gilbert Arenas to erase one distraction, but the recent scuffle between JaVale McGee and Andray Blatch just added another one to the mix.
You certainly can’t blame head coach Flip Saunders for the team’s struggles given what he has to work with. (more…)

With a 7-22 record, the Washington Wizards currently sport the second lowest win total in the NBA.
They hold the worst record in the Eastern Conference, and only the Sacremento Kings have a worse record.
The season has been highlighted by the trade of Gilbert Arenas and a fight between Andray Blatche and JaVale McGee that resulted in a one-game suspension for both players.
John Wall has been hobbled by injuries but shown flashes of brilliance when healthy enough to get on the court. (more…)

The Washington Wizards have traded point guard Gilbert Arenas to the Orlando Magic for shooting guard Rashard Lewis.
Arenas seemed like he was ready to move on from Washington, and the Wizards felt the same way.
Between all of his knee issues, the gun situation and drafting John Wall, the writing was on the wall.
The Wizards pick up a legitimate shooting guard who can knock down three-pointers, something they really don’t have. (more…)

The Washington Wizards lost another game, this time a 105-94 defeat at the hands of the Miami Heat.
Sadly, the game wasn’t even as close as the final score indicates, although the Wizards were without John Wall.
Wall seems to be spending a lot of time on the bench with injuries, and that doesn’t bode well for the future.
Meanwhile, Gilbert Arenas has gone from one of the top stars in the league to nothing more than a role player. (more…)

Washington Wizards star rookie John Wall injured his left foot in his team’s 103-96 loss to the host Chicago Bulls.
Wall could be seen after the game limping around the locker room in a protective boot, tired from chasing Derrick Rose all over the court.
Ironically, many compare Wall to a young Rose and actually believed he was further along in his development than the Chicago guard when each left school for the NBA.
Wall hurt his foot in the third quarter but later returned to the game, which earned a lot of respect from many of his teammates. (more…)

Washington Wizards point guard Gilbert Arenas may miss the team’s season opener because of an ankle injury.
Head coach Flip Saunders said there is some fluid buildup in the ankle and he missed practice again.
Saunders is hopeful to get Arenas back but said he thinks the team will be fine without him because he hasn’t been able to play that much in the preseason.
The guard was fined by the team already this year for faking an injury in order to let a fellow teammate start in his place. (more…)

Washington Wizards guard Gilbert Arenas owned praise from new owner Ted Leonsis during a recent pick-up game.
Leonsis said Arenas was going up against another NBA superstar who will remain nameless and was looking great.
He said he looks explosive and fit and that he was so impressive that he had people buzzing about him.
Leonsis has been an outspoken supporter of Arenas, who is trying to make amends for pulling a gun on a teammate in the locker room. (more…)

New Washington Wizards shooting guard Kirk Hinrich said he thinks the team can surprise people next year.
The guard admitted that he was confused, angered and dismayed when he heard he was traded to the Wizards.
He said that being traded has put a chip on his shoulder and motivated him for the upcoming season.
He believes that the Wizards have a good amount of talent, especially after drafting John Wall. (more…)
